Names

I have felt that each of our boys has had an influence in what his name would be.  We really wanted to see Camden before we named him, but we had a list of several names picked out.  With both Nate and with McKay, we had chosen different names for them.  And with both, there came a time when I felt that our little guy disapproved and my ideas were sort of directed to a different name.  I have a feeling that we may have at least one more little guy, and I wonder what his name will be.

Our little McKay Alan is named after several people who are important to Brian.  His maternal grandfather is Kay Allan.  Brian's dad and paternal grandfather are both named Alan.  Brian's mom's middle name is Kay as well.

I never met Brian's grandpa Kay, but early in our marriage, Brian told me that he wanted to name a son Kay Allan, after his grandpa.  Within a week or so before McKay was born, I googled "Kay Allan" and was able to find a beautiful obituary.  It helped me feel a connection to Grandpa Kay.

I like to think that our little McKay knew his great grandpa before he came to our family.

First bath--he really wasn't thrilled about it

Camden loves to hold the baby!

How lovely. Thanks for sharing the name stuff. I love names that have personal meaning. Also, I love that second pic because, holy cow, he looks like he has a ginormous tummy! So cute!

Finally saw your blog about McKay's name! I'm so touched with you and Brian's thoughtfulness in my sweet dad's name. He will always be the greatest example to me of a complete love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and unconditional love for his wife! As well as Brian's dad who never gives up, never surrenders, endures to the end for the Gospel!! Thank you!!
