I missed posting about Nate turning 18 months back in mid November--though it was l o n g anticipated. I was so excited for him to go to nursery at church, where he would have so much more fun than with me in the hall. Unfortunately, I think he's only been about 2 or 3 times because we've been sick a lot.
Yesterday we had his 18 month check up because we had to cancel the original one due to a funeral.
He is:
~34 1/4 inches tall (85 percentile)
~22 1/2 lbs (7th percentile)
~Also, he's off his dairy free diet, which makes cooking so much easier for me. He doesn't really like milk or cheese very much, though. I wonder if he can handle some dairy, but not a lot.
~He can climb almost anything, including Camden's bunk bed sanctuary. We were really hoping it would take him awhile to learn, not a mere week.
~He loves to draw and write. He can spend a long time with a paper and a pen or crayon. He's mostly pretty good about staying on the paper.
~We're starting to enjoy books with him more. It helps to read the same books every night, and introduce one new story at a time, rather than reading lots of different ones. He sometimes can recognize the short sound for "o", and a "s' sound when he sees an "o" or a "s". I like to teach letter sounds before letter names. It makes more sense for learning to read.
~I counted 25 words he says, but probably 18 of them are expressions like "uh-oh", "yay!", "hmmmm", or "peek-a boo". They're super cute, but don't really help him express what he wants or needs. Other words are mom, dad, please, apple, cracker, car, and hot.
~He thinks that cups, salt shakers, and books are best if upside down.
~He has an infectious giggle that earns him extra playtime before bedtime.
~He is generally totally unafraid of strangers and will go talk to anyone.
~He loves lights and gets frustrated if they aren't turned on. He also loves tools and to learn how things work.
~I love his hair!
~He likes to help with chores when he wants to--like sorting silverware and especially putting clothes and towels away.
