Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday, May 5, was our 4th anniversary. When I think about the length of 4 years, it doesn't seem very long, but when I think about our marriage, it seems like we've always been married.

We celebrated by having homemade cheese enchiladas. We love mexican food, so it's extra fun that we got married on Cinco de Mayo. I put up some simple decorations. Plus, Brian's boss sent him home early because it was our anniversary! It was lots of fun to spend extra time with him .

We like to give each other gifts that follow the anniversary gift list...Brian started it on our first anniversary. I had never heard of it. The first year was paper, second year was cotton, and the third year was leather. Anyway, 4th year is sort of hard...fruit or flowers. I was expecting flowers, because I love fresh flowers and it seemed so obvious. But, Brian likes to be more creative. I'll get back to that in a minute.

I had a hard time figuring out what I could do for Brian. Maybe if we had a big yard, I could buy a fruit tree. But I don't, so I cheated a little. I found an alternate list that said linen/silk was the 4th year gift. Hooray! That is much easier. So, I got Brian a beautiful green paisley tie. He really likes paisley, and it sort of looks like flowers. Plus, green is the color of plants, right?

Brian braved the women's clothing department at Kohl's (I am very impressed) and got a dressy white shirt (something I've been looking for for awhile) that has a flower print woven in. Alas, I despise women's clothing sizes. Why can't a small be a small, a medium be a medium, and a large be a large? Why are some larges really smalls, some mediums really larges or smalls, and some smalls really larges? It just didn't fit well.

Anyway, we had a wonderful day. It was much calmer than last year! I'll post more about that on Camden's birthday.

I am so glad he waited for me so I could marry him. I hope most people feel about their spouses the way I feel about Brian. Love you!

Sounds like a really sweet home celebration of a happy home life. Dale and I decided to celebrate our paper anniversary last week by going to a photo booth and getting a slide of 4 silly pictures to frame.
